About the competition

The TEKNOFEST Environment and Energy Technologies Competition is one of the competition categories of TEKNOFEST, Türkiye’s national aerospace and technology festival, organised together with the T3 Foundation and the Ministry of Industry and Technology. It asks teams to bring forward working technical answers to environmental and energy problems rather than concept posters.

Selection happens through written stages. Teams submit a preliminary design report and then a detailed report describing the problem, the proposed system, the method and the expected outcome. TEKNOFEST competitions receive very large numbers of team applications, and only a small fraction of them are invited to the on-site final.

The result

The energy loss monitoring system reached the final stage of the 2024 Environment and Energy Technologies Competition.

Why this one matters

This entry is featured because the project behind it is the one that later became the subject of a patent application. The competition was the first setting in which the system had to be explained end to end to people who were not involved in building it: what loss is being detected, how it is measured, what the measurement is compared against, and what a user is supposed to do with the result.

That process forced the design to be stated in plain terms. A jury does not accept a block diagram as an answer. It asks where the numbers come from and what happens when a reading is wrong. Preparing for the final was largely a matter of narrowing the claims until each one could be defended.

The technical detail sits in the linked project entry and in the related patent entry.
